PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN PROJECT
ELECTION DAY  - WEDNESDAY May 31st


For a culminating project, for our Election Unit, we will be running a campaign and election.  Each major political party will be represented and you, as students and citizens, will elect a candidate for president and vice president.  The following are your group and individual requirements:



Political Parties:

Democrats
Republicans
Libertarian Party
Green Party 




Group Project:

Blog:  Each group is responsible for creating their own party blog. Each blog must include:
1. Platform - a statement of party beliefs and outline of policy initiatives
a. Minimum of 5 issues, one paragraph per issue
2. 30 second commercial -
a. Purpose is to sway undecided voters
b. No negative campaigning
3. Biography of Candidates
a. What makes your candidate unique
b. How does your candidate represent the core values of your party
c. Credentials/resume type information
4. Speeches
a. Transcript of presidential candidate’s speech
b. Transcript of vice-presidential candidate’s speech

1. Buttons
2. Signs
3. Election Day Banner





PROPAGANDA COMPONENT:  Two types of propaganda are required to be utilized at some point in the campaign, either in advertising or commercial as well as in speeches (Glittering Generalities, Card Stacking, Testimonial, Bandwagon, Plain Folks, Name Calling)

Speeches:
Candidate (and consultants) will prepare a 3 minute speech to present on election day
a. Speeches must present candidates position on at least three issues
b. A transcript of the speech must be posted on the blog
c. Each speech must include a quote from a current influential member of your selected party



GROUP PROJECT: CAMPAIGN PORTFOLIO

With the use of visuals and a creative format the blog engages the viewer in a highly effective manner covering all required components in a thorough and sophisticated manner. 

With the use of visuals and a creative format the blog informs the viewer in an effective manner covering all required components.
With the use of visuals and a simplistic format the blog struggles to clearly inform the viewer in an effective manner. Some required components are missing.
With the use of limited visuals the selected format for the blog fails to communicate with the viewer.  Most/all required components are missing.
