19th Amendment Position Paper Rubric

The Constitution as a Living Document
The Constitution is a living document, meaning, it has changed and adapted over time to meet the needs of the American body politic.  Our Amendments are each examples of specific issues and ideals that have been built into the Constitution over time.  This unit, our special focus is the Nineteenth Amendment.  Ratified in 1920, this amendment specifically addressed the issue of Women’s Suffrage and gave women the right to vote. Through an analysis of the history of the 19th Amendment and an investigation into the overall participation of American women in government, this assignment asks you to analyze the significance of the Nineteenth Amendment and define its modern legacy
