Facing Controversial Issues

Immigration is a controversial issue in American society. As a class we hold both conservative and liberal opinions on this topic. Some of you may feel passionately that undocumented young people who came to the US through no fault of their own deserve a road to legal status. Others of you may feel just as passionately that US immigration laws must be enforced and any exception only encourages a greater flow of illegal immigration. Before you dig deeper into this issue and investigate both sides of this topic through the resources linked to the blog, I would like you to watch this brief video of a Trump rally. Black Lives Matter protesters showed up and what happened next may surprise you. After you watch the video, I would like you to leave a comment on the blog. (Click on the highlighted blue comment link at the end of this post, below the video, to leave your response).
Answer the question: What impressed you the most about this video?

  2. The Trump rally listened to what the Black lives Matter protestors had to say and the Trump ralliers agreed to most of the things the Black Lives Matter protestors had to say and it made progress between the two groups.

  3. Black lives do matter, and the trump rally agreed too most of the thing in the black lives matter video. Even though some trump voters disagree with black lives matter because of the opinion they have about the issue of black lives matter, Both have valid points.

  5. I think that the black lives matter group some progress with the Trump rally. They cheered at the end which I assume is good. They didn't really seem very willing to hear what the black lives matter group had to say, considering that they shouted their disagreement in the middle of the speech. Hopefully the black lives matter group will be able to make more progress.

  6. The BLM activist got a chance to say what was needed to say. It wasn't brushed off, it wasn't set to the side. It was pushed that he got a chance to say what he wanted to. Everyone has an equal right to freedom of speech, and he got his "moment".

  7. The BLM activists got an actual chance to explain themselves and their message to the US. They got the chance to use their words rather than violence. Even though people shouted against the message they still heard it. Hopefully they digested it too.

  12. I was quite surprised that the BLM activist even got a chance to put out his message on stage. Many people were giving the Black Lives Matter hate just for existing at the rally, but they still got their chance to make a difference in our community.

  16. I think that it's fantastic that the BLM group got to speak, especially at a public place with a lot of people there. Although people in the crowd kept disagreeing with the man, he kept going which shows that he really cares about his group and the point he's trying to make.
